The winged figure associated with disaster, reported most famously from Point Pleasant, West Virginia.

The Mothman is a winged humanoid entity reported across the Appalachian region, most famously connected to a series of sightings near Point Pleasant, West Virginia in 1966 and 1967. Accounts consistently describe a large dark figure with glowing red eyes, typically seen before or during periods of local disaster or catastrophe.

Whether any sightings near Carraway Gorge predate, coincide with, or follow the Commission’s operational period in the valley is a matter of record quality. The relevant records from the 1966 to 1968 period are sparse.
