Tuckseed River
The river running the length of Carraway Gorge, from the dam reservoir to the valley lowlands.
The Tuckseed River runs the full length of Carraway Gorge, fed from the reservoir behind Carraway Dam and draining south into the wider lowlands. Mill Hollow was built along its eastern bank, and the river served as the practical boundary of the settlement: houses on one side, the mine works and rail loading on the other.
The river’s flow has been regulated by the dam since 1951. At decommissioned capacity it runs shallow but steady. When the dam is not operational, the Tuckseed drops further, exposing sections of bank not seen under normal conditions.
